This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to: Mental health assessments, including suicide risk assessments and diagnostic assessments for both acute and chronic mental health conditions Crisis evaluation & intervention/management Treatment, including psychiatric pharmacotherapy within the VA formulary guidelines and non-pharmacotherapy interventions when appropriate (e.g. psychotherapies) Consultative and liaison services Treatment planning and coordination with other disciplines Administrative duties as assigned Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests Complete documentation using the VA electronic medical record (i.e. CPRS) Teach and counsel patients/families including health promotion and disease prevention Teach and consult with other staff regarding Mental Health conditions/treatments Refer to specialty care services, as indicated Coordinate admissions for acute, mental-health conditions requiring hospitalization Work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team Teach trainees within Mental Health & Behavioral Services (MHBS) Perform on-call duties, as assigned Prescribe clozapine to appropriate patients Prescribe buprenorphine to appropriate patients Other duties as assigned within the physician's scope of practice Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm
