The University of Chicago's Department of Pathology is recruiting a senior Pathologist at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to serve as Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories for the University of Chicago Medicine and as Director of Clinical Pathology. The Department of Pathology has a track record of excellence and innovation spanning the breadth of pathology and laboratory medicine including anatomic pathology and its various subspecialties, hematology, chemistry, blood bank/transfusion medicine, microbiology, immunology, coagulation, transplant immunology, cytogenetics, genomic & molecular pathology and point of care testing. This position will lead the department in the transition to a new information system and in the design of new laboratory space. In addition to providing leadership for the Clinical Laboratories, other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity.
We especially welcome applicants with an academic background, including scholarly productivity in translational or clinical research as well as experience managing a clinical laboratory or laboratory section. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) possess an MD or MD/PhD or equivalent, 2) be board-certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology, and 3) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
