The primary role of the Whole Health (WH) Clinical Director, located at the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS), is to manage and plan how WH services are delivered and contribute to the process of strategic planning, influencing, and responding to organizational priorities. This will involve responsibility for guiding WH operations and administrative functions at the main hospital and CBOCs. The position works closely with other services in the Hospital including Primary Care, Mental Health, Nutrition, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and others in an integrated care model. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides direct leadership to Whole Health staff and oversight of all WH programming at the PVAHCS. Develops and executes a Whole Health Business Plan and identifies programmatic resource and/or budgetary needs. Is accountable for resources used, directly and indirectly, by WH. Assumes a leadership role in the development and implementation of WH goals as part of the larger PVAHCS strategic plan. Occupies the lead management role within Whole Health. Jointly selects Whole Health team members and provides direct line supervision to assigned clinical and administrative staff. Develops and implements measures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the designated areas of responsibility. Creates strategic partnerships with VHA facility program directors and service line chiefs. Advocate for Whole Health with VHA leadership, the medical community, and academic affiliates. Creates strategic partnerships with community organizations to promote health and well-being offerings within the community as needed. Assists with the development of a WH marketing plan. Provides strategic clinical input and ensures effective advice to the Chief of Staff and PVAHCS Executive Leadership Team. Assists clinicians with educational and clinical experience of any potential medical students, residents, and fellows assigned to WH rotations and identifies training opportunities in WH services. Is readily available to the team members for collaboration when medical or other problems arise. Keeps the Whole Health team apprised of medical care advances and practice standards. Collaborates with other Whole Health Clinical Directors, VISN 22 leadership, and VA Central Office staff on program development issues. Supports clinical training and continuing professional development throughout the WH team in line with personal/professional development plans and organizational/clinical need. Maintains inventory of CIH approaches offered at VHA facility, including gap analysis as it relates to CIH approaches that must be offered by VA/community per Directive1137.
