This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Deputy Chief of Staff reports directly to the Chief of Staff located at the Northport VA Medical Center, Northport, New York. The incumbent functions as a member of the leadership team and supports the VISN 2 mission to care for our Veterans with compassion and excellence. The Deputy Chief of Staff serves as principal assistant to the Chief of Staff in clinical, administrative and performance matters affecting the medical care of Veterans delivered through the main campus at the Northport VA along with 5 Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). The Deputy Chief of Staff is responsible for acting in the absence of the Chief of Staff and, in that capacity, executing decisions and acting on plans/directives within the scope of services available. The Deputy Chief of Staff will chair and serve on various committees, workgroups and task forces at the facility and/or VISN level. The DCOS will serve in a direct supervisory capacity to 10 clinical service areas within the organization of the COS line. The incumbent must possess strong interpersonal skills and be creative, flexible and adaptive to successfully coordinate and integrate programs into a continuous package of services to meet the needs of Veterans.
