Clinical Psychologist - Trauma Psychology
Rush University Medical Center
Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Clinical Psychologist. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting a clinical psychologist for the Road Home Program: The National Center of Excellence for Veterans and Their Families at Rush (RHP). RHP's mission is to compassionately serve veterans and their families. It provides individualized care on an outpatient basis to veterans and their loved ones to help heal the invisible wounds of war. Additionally, RHP is part of the Warrior Care Network as a Midwest regional center for the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder through a two-week Intensive Outpatient Program for survivors of combat and military sexual trauma (MST). The successful candidate will be an integral part of RHP's clinical program and will treat veterans and active duty service members, as well as eligible families and children (depending on interests and background). The majority of the psychologist's clinical time will consist of delivering Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in our IOP setting, with additional opportunities for outpatient clinical work. Psychologists may also be expected to supervise trainees, teach medical students and residents, and engage in research and program development. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience with trauma and the evidence-based treatment of PTSD (particularly CPT) and Substance Use Disorders (particularly Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), have a solid research background including some publications, and be interested in establishing a scientist-practitioner career. Candidates that have previous clinical experience with active duty service members or veterans may be particularly well-suited. Qualified candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD) in clinical or counseling psychology with an APA-approved internship, completed a one-year psychology fellowship, and be licensed or license eligible in the state of Illinois.
