This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay) The Hematologist/Oncologist can evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment in an outpatient setting or in the form of inpatient consultative services to patients of all ages presenting with illnesses and disorders of the blood and blood-forming tissues and/or malignant tumors. This includes: performing and interpreting peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirations and biopsy, administration of chemotherapeutic agents and biological response to modifiers through all therapeutic routes, including intrathecalchemotherapy, the management and care of indwelling venous access catheters, plasmapheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomy. Privileges also include admission, work up, diagnosis, and provision of treatment for patients in the Acute Care setting.
