This position functions as a Physician who maintains professional, technical and administrative knowledge, competencies and skills to provide effective care and timely, quality responses to patients' clinical needs and problems in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. You will be accountable for assuring the effective delivery of care while meeting compliance standards. The Wilmington VA Medical Center (VAMC) is located just outside of the Wilmington City limits. The Wilmington VA Medical Center offers comprehensive services ranging from preventive screenings to long-term care; with state-of-the-art technology and education. The Wilmington VAMC proudly serves Veterans in five (5) Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located throughout Delaware and Southern New Jersey. You can be part of that team, helping to make sure that our Veterans continue to receive the highest quality care possible. The incumbent will be located at our Northfield, NJ CBOC and will provide comprehensive primary care services for patients in Primary Care setting in the assigned location. The Physician may include, but are not limited to: Works as a member of a primary care team consisting of clerical staff, nurses, physicians, social workers, and clinical pharmacists. Provides or coordinates all aspects of the patient's care including preventive, urgent, and routine care including women's healthcare. Provides effective care to patients characterized by using sound judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating patient care for assigned patients. Provides medical histories and performs comprehensive physical examinations (H and P's), orders appropriate diagnostic studies, interprets and analyzes medical data, establishes diagnoses, formulates and implements treatment plans, and modifies treatment plans; orders subspecialty consults, tests, prosthetic requests, completes forms on veterans behalf that are within the treatment purview of the incumbent, and performs other clinical duties as directed and deemed by the Service Chief. References quality improvement information and organizes patient care needs to assure safe, efficient, and cost-effective care and initiates effective actions in emergencies. Participates in the provision of telemedicine care and Virtual Video Care (VVC) to outlying communities, as well as occasional travel to other VA clinics to provide clinical coverage. Willing to treat Geriatric Primary Care patients and is encouraged to apply for implementation of a Geriatric Primary Care panel (encouraged but not required). Willing to engage in Women's Health treatment, hypertension management, and diabetes management. Willing to treat opiate use disorder with buprenorphine therapy (with training available) in consultation with Behavioral Health. Willing to support residency training of affiliated medical Universities and programs. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
