The Child Abuse Resource and Education (CARE) Program of Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas is seeking a full-time child abuse pediatrician and faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics at the new Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. Successful candidates should be BC/BE in pediatrics and BC/BE in child abuse pediatrics.
The Child Abuse Pediatrician will join a team that currently includes a medical director, 3 nurse practitioners, one social worker, and one clinic operations manager. This full-time position offers a busy and diverse inpatient and outpatient practice along with excellent opportunities for teaching, research, and community outreach and advocacy. The ideal candidate should possess outstanding clinical skills and experience in evidence-based child abuse pediatrics in a multi-disciplinary setting. Additional experience and expertise in clinical research is highly desired for the purpose of serving as a research mentor for trainees and team members.
The overarching goal of the program is to achieve Center of Excellence status in child maltreatment and is actively planning for continued expansion. The program is a partner with the Center for Child Protection, which is the child advocacy center for Austin and Travis County.

Seton operates more than 100 clinical locations, including four teaching hospitals that will be training sites for Dell Medical School at The University of Texas starting in 2016.
One of those training sites is Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, a world-class pediatric medical center with its own Level I trauma center. Another is University Medical Center Brackenridge, which is Ce...ntral Texas’ only Level I trauma center for adults. UMC Brackenridge will be replaced by the new Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas in early 2017. The other two teaching hospitals are Seton Medical Center Austin, the region’s largest medical facility, and Seton Shoal Creek Hospital, the area’s only nonprofit mental health facility.
Seton conducts research in the prevention and treatment of stroke, traumatic injury, epilepsy and cardiovascular disease.
