The Perinatal Institute, Division of Neonatology is seeking Pediatric Hospitalists to provide patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
Clinicians should be board certified pediatricians, and graduating pediatric residents are encouraged to apply. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is a 678 bed medical and surgical facility with approximately 33,000 admissions annually. The NICU is a 59-bed Level IV unit that serves a busy Fetal Care Center and has a broad regional referral base. Both medical and surgical patients are cared for in the NICU, which is staffed by Neonatology faculty, Pediatric Hospitalists and Advanced Practice Nurses. CCHMC is also a teaching hospital – there are 15 Neonatal Fellows and rotating pediatric residents who are part of the care team.
We are looking for clinicians to provide direct patient care in the NICU in collaboration with the Attending Neonatologist (the clinician will not be the attending of record). Physicians will evaluate, treat and manage sick neonates, order appropriate testing, document in the electronic medical record (EPIC), provide support to families, and collaborate with nursing and ancillary staff. Assignments will also include responsibility for supervising and educating medical students, residents and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner students. May also participate in quality improvement projects and/or the implementation of new protocols and processes.
Schedule will consist of 10 (12-hour) shifts over a 3-week period. Must be able to work a combination of day and night shifts as well as weekends. We offer a very competitive benefits package that includes 5 weeks of paid time off as well as a Defined Benefit Contribution Retirement Plan.
Required education: Graduate of a GMEC-accredited Medical School and Pediatric Residency Program. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
Skills: demonstrates strong initiative, good judgement, problem-solving, decision-making, developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, families; excellent communication skills; prior experience in Level III or IV NICU a plus
